Detoxification- how to do it with regular foods

Well, our body can detoxify itself through the kidney, liver, digestive system, lymphatic system, skin and can flush out the toxins. However, one can enhance the detoxification system of the body through clean eating. But one must not compromise with daily nutrition in the name of detoxification. You should avoid supplements that are easily available at the market in the name of detoxification. Proper eating habits can help your body in detoxification.

 

Natural and healthy ways to detoxify the body: –

 

  1. Stay hydrated throughout the day. As water helps the body to remove waste in various ways.
  2. Have seasonal fruits and vegetables. They are packed with many important nutrients and enhance overall health of the body. They are high in essential vitamins, minerals and fibers, all of which help to revitalize and cleanse the body.
  3. Add fiber in your diet. It strengthens the digestive system and helps in body detoxification.
  4. Include prebiotic foods like banana, oats, boiled potatoes, berries, onion, garlic, legumes, etc. and probiotic foods like yogurt, pickles, cheese, tempeh, miso, kimchi, etc. in your diet.
  5. Eat antioxidant rich foods. It can keep free radicals in check and reduce body damage.
  6. Stop the intake of junk foods at the period of detoxification(10 to 21 days at a stretch).
  7. Exercise regularly. It strengthens our body inside out.
  8. Lead a healthy lifestyle. It helps our body organs to carry out their functions more efficiently.

  • Start your day with warm chia seeds – lemon water with a big pinch of himalayan pink salt.
  • Stay hydrated throughout the day, as extra water will help to flush out the toxins. Women should take7 liters of water per day and men should take 3.7 liters of water per day. Also you can add lemon water, cinnamon water, cumin and coriander seeds water, fennel seeds water to add flavors to your water.
  • Include fruits, coconut water, sugarcane juice, chaas as mid meal.
  • Stop the intake of sugar and processed food in the period of detoxification.
  • Decrease the intake of white salt and also include varieties of salt like black salt and himalayan pink salt.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption.
  • Eat simple home cooked meals which include salad, rice/roti, dal, sabzi and dahi.
  • Drink green tea.
  • Exercise regularly and stay active throughout the day.
  • Get proper sleep which will help to recover and heal your body.
